The First Unity War, also referred to as WWIII

The First Unity War, also referred to as the Third World War, is the first major war imagined within this universe.

The Beginning

Within this timeline the main alliances in this conflict are the North Alantic Treaty Organization, the Eastern Powers, the African Defense Alliance, and the American Alliance for Mutual Defense. We shall go through each one one by one.

NATO

NATO within this timeline grows to encompass all of Europe, being the main rival to the Eastern Powers. The only nations within Europe that had not joined NATO are Serbia and Belarus. With both those countries instead joining the Eastern Powers. NATO also holds strong ties to ADA, or the African Defense Alliance. Ukraine would become a full member state, calling the bluff of the Eastern Powers to begin war.

Eastern Powers

The Eastern Powers are the main geo-political rival to NATO. With the member states being the following:
The Russian Federation (Later the Union State), People's Republic of China, Republic of Mongolia, Islamic Republic of Pakistan, Islamic Republic of Iran, Democratic People's Republic of Korea, Lao People's Democratic Republic, all of central Asia, and a coalition government in Afghanistan being the Islamic Republic of Afghanistan.
The symbolism of the Eastern Power flag is the following:
White for purity, being in the right.
Blue for Democracy and freedom.
and the four pointed star, a common symbol for the east in this timeline, a star different from that of Western forces, and one mimicing the flag of NATO. It is no longer NATO vs enemies of NATO. But NATO vs the Eastern Powers.

Ideology

Overall, the ideology of the various sides of the world have remained the same as today. With the Eastern Powers being filled with questionable democracies, the West spreading liberal ideas, and various pockets of third world powers hating both.

The War Begins

The First Unity War would begin with one idea of both sides in mind, uniting the world under one new world order. Destorying the old a bringing forth the new era. Due to the technological advancements of this war, there is no sudden nuclear war, most weapons of that kind are quickly destroyed and disabled by other types of weapons Bringing forth a convential war. A bloody and modern one.
The War Begins on the European Front, 3031. May.

Eastern Power Forces, mainly those from Russia and Belarus invade UN border zones in Ukraine. And forces quickly plan a victory in europe by rushing through the heart of Poland, obliterating the Baltics and Finland. With the techonology given before, most attacks might be done through short range missiles, troop movements and a soviet style tank waves. Around Kiev Bela-Russian forces would halt, stuck from a sudden influx of NATO forces. The Baltic nations will also be invaded, quickly. With all three armies retreating to the Baltic sea to try and regroup with NATO re-enforcements.
Almost no progress would be made in Finland, Norway and Sweden will being sending troops.
At this time, weapons of all kind are firing throughout space and the world. Nukes being shot down, and counter weapons being deployed. only 4 nukes would land. Non on intended targets. Various small villages in Romania and Western Ukraine are obliterated. (By this year, Moldova had united with Romania.) This mishap would kill many civilians, bring horrible PR to Russia and Belarus (now a nuclear armed country).
By June, America is here.

By June NATO is fully in action, for the first time since 9/11, article 5 is invoked. Hundreds of thousands of American troops are arriving to Europe. Russian and Belarussian troops are faultering. On the border with Georgia, Russia is advancing. Breaking the forces before it. Iran also begins to advance against neighboring Iraq, and aiding Russia against Turkey. The stalemate has been broken and the Eastern Powers are losing. By July Lithuania is liberated. Then the second front begins, the DPRK invades South Korea, and the PROC begins slowely but surley attacking the defenses of the ROC. India and Bangladesh remain their own power block against the surrounding East. American forces begin arriving to aid South Korea and the ROC. Naval battles occur by the ROC. Various nuclear weapons land in the ocean, one strikes the coast of Alaska after a failed attempt by Russia to make America leave the war. By this time almost half a million people have been delcared killed. Possibly more. Right now powers don't care how many die, they just need to begin truley ripping away at the other. Troops from Central Asia begin aiding the Russians in the European front. NATO forces have liberated the Baltics and towns on the border of Finland have begin supporting the NATO cause. August is filled with panic by the Eastern Powers, will they lose this promised war? The war they had been preparing forever for, was it all for not? In early August a NATO counter attack is executed. By now NATO forces are close to liberating Crimea when the advance is halted. Biological weapons are used on the front. By this time more and more have been brutally killed, counting civilian deaths around 2 Million have died. Russia is able to advance closer to Kiev. The Ukrainian state is still standing strong, though their military is mostly that of NATO. Through naval persistence Eastern Power forces enter Romania, the State of Moldova is created and "Liberated" in the eyes of Russia.
